El Huarache Loco: Authentic Fare Crafted By a Mexico City Native
Veronica Salazar didn't need business experience to ensure success for El Huarache Loco. She was basically raised to be a chef as a child growing up in Mexico City, and that was enough to spur El Huarache Loco toward local fame. Chef Veronica worked at the family restaurant, La Raza, from the time she was a child, naturally accumulating the skills she needed to debut her own taqueria north of the border.
She did so in an effort to bring truly authentic food to Larkspur, not the watered-down imitation she'd encountered at other Mexican eateries in the area. Regulars highly recommend the mole dishes, such as Mole El Huarache Loco. Chef Salazar uses the same chicken mole recipe that her family used at La Raza in Mexico City, and customers can taste the authenticity. Quesadillas, enchiladas, and tacos are also on the menu.
